Electrical Heating Mantles without Controllers

Electrical Heating Mantles without Controllers

An ideal heating solution for round-bottomed flasks in a laboratory setting, heating mantles without controllers use an external device to regulate temperature. Often used as an alternative to Bunsen burners, these self-supporting mantles have an outer shell made fiberglass cloth.

Mantle construction includes slip-in and zip-up options, both of which can be used with a basket ring stand. Temperature controllers are required for operation but are not included with these mantles.

Electrical heating mantles work well when a container or vessel requires heating over a long period of time. In these instances, heating with a hotplate or Bunsen burner is both less effective and less practical. Electrical heating mantles distribute heat more evenly over the surface of the vessel and generate fewer “hotspots.” They can also accommodate unusually or irregularly shaped flasks and other glassware.

Glass containers can be placed directly into solid or flexible electrical heating mantles, which are shaped or otherwise designed to reduce the chances of breakage. The actual heating element is insulated to prevent excessive variations in temperature.

Electrical heating mantle construction includes slip-in and zip-up options, either of which can be used with a basket ring stand. Temperature controllers are required for operation but must be purchased separately.
